Questions, answered

The things expats ask us most about buying and renting across Latin America.

Buying & renting

Can foreigners buy property in these countries?

Yes. Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and Colombia all allow foreign buyers. In Mexico's coastal and border zones you buy through a bank trust (fideicomiso) or a corporation — routine, and a local expert we introduce you to will walk you through it.

Should I rent before I buy?

Most people should. A few months renting long-term lets you learn a neighbourhood before committing. We list both, so you can start with a rental and move to a purchase without switching sites.

Are the listings up to date?

Listings come from local agents and are refreshed regularly. Each shows how many days it's been listed, and you can set price-drop alerts so you hear the moment something changes.

Language & currency

How does the translation work?

Every listing is translated into all nine supported languages, including the full description — not just the labels. Pick your language once and the whole site follows, right-to-left included for Arabic.

Which currency will I see prices in?

Whichever of our ten currencies you choose. Prices are pinned at listing time, so what you see is stable — not a number that drifts every time exchange rates move.

Is the price I see the final price?

The listing price is the asking price. Closing costs, notary fees, and local taxes vary by country — your local expert will give you an honest, itemised estimate before you commit to anything.

Getting help

Who am I actually talking to?

Local agents and relocation specialists who live in these markets. When you send an inquiry, it goes to someone who knows that city, the paperwork, and daily life on the ground — and who can reply in your language.

Do you help with visas and the move itself?

We're a property search first, but relocation touches everything. Our specialists can point you to trusted immigration and legal help in each country — and our blog covers the practical side of moving.

Account & billing

Is browsing free?

Yes — you can search, translate, and view listings for free. Saving favourites, alerts, and expert introductions come with a plan, which you can start and cancel anytime.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Anytime, from your account. Plans are month-to-month with no lock-in — a move takes as long as it takes, and your plan should flex with it.
